Purpose

Ongoing outcome for the circle to acheive. A circle always has a Purpose, whether implicit or explicit. By definition, the Purpose grants the circle the authority to take any action useful to express it, as long as such action doesn’t violate the Domain of another role or circle. The Purpose also helps define the “identity” of the circle.

Domains

Assets or activity owned and controlled by this circle. Example: A domain of “Public website” means that any other role or circle must have the explicity permission of this cricle to impact the website.

Accountabilities

Ongoing activity that the organisation can expect from this circle. An Accountability grants the cricle the authority to take any action useful to express it, as long as such action doesn’t violate the Domain of another role or circle. However, an Accountability does not limit the authority of OTHER roles. E.g., an Accoutability for “Updating database regularly” does NOT prevent other roles from updating the database, it only sets an expectation on this circle, so that others can count on it to care for it.

Core Roles

The three roles each circle should have:

  • Coordinator
  • Facilitator
  • Secretary

Defined Roles

Roles created by a circle for a specific purpose with clear accountabilities.
