Hauraki District Council opt to acknowledge ‘climate urgency’ not emergency

Hauraki District Council has opted to acknowledge that there is a climate urgency rather than emergency, believing the latter could result in a “toothless” promise.

Extinction Rebellion Waihi, an environmental conservation organisation, requested that council declare a climate emergency for the Hauraki District.
