Non-Violent Action Training

Saturday March 23rd 10am to 4 pm. Rainbow Room Quakers House 113 Mt Eden Rd

With many of us going to the many actions for a Palestinian/Israeli ceasefire, and the opposition at each one, it is time for us to increase our ability to stay firm in the nonviolent Kaupapa.

This workshop will deepen and broaden you understanding of nonviolent action and the skills to stay firm in the face of resistance. It is to be expected that as we are more effective, vested interests will take stronger measures against us. This may include agent provocateur, active public violence (as has happened with the Palestinian protests) and a change of attitude of the police demanded by the government (as is happening in England).

To be effective to counter the vested interests of the fossil fuel sector, we need to be prepared and trained. This has always been the situation for significant social movements.

Palestinian Rallies

Many of us are supporting the protests against the atrocities in Gaza.

See this article:

“Here’s a look at how the unstoppable bombardment of the enclave could further affect climate change in a region that has already seen temperatures increase, with projections of a 4 degrees Celsius (7.2 degrees Fahrenheit) rise by the end of the century.”

There are rallies and marches every Saturday plus pickets on Fridays. And more.

Coping with uncertainty, anger, fear and/or grief – in a time of climate disaster?

April 5 School Strike 4 Climate
Free Palestine, Toitu Te Tiriti, Climate Justice.

An intersectional rally focusing on the common causes of these life threatening calamities: the neo-liberal economic system of capitalism spread throughout the world by colonialism.

Bringing these issues together and to be huge is what the hobbled together coalition called a government needs to know that just because they managed a government this does not give them the mandate to destroy. We need another election and for everyone to vote (1 million people did not vote last in October)

Council and AT ongoing pressure!

Fossil fuel powered transport is the largest polluter in our city. To pull our weight to keep the planet liveable we must get out of our cars and into electric public transport.

We need Council to maintain the TERP (Transport Emissions Reduction Plan) in the long term plan. Do a submission, tell your Local Board, respond to the People’s Panel: https://akhaveyoursay.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/hub-page/long-term-plan-2024-2034

Join us as we lobby relevant Council meetings. We need banner holders and people in the Guerilla Choir. Text Caril 0211883933

North Shore Pickets

Wednesday or Thursday morning for about an hour. Pat’s partner for this picket is leaving. She needs a companion. Are you on the shore? Is this what you can do to help build the awareness and willingness for effective action to get the emissions down for 1.5 degrees? Text Pat 0276340902

Nāku, nāhau ka ora ai tātou. Ko te mahi me tōna hua e rite ana, e tika ana. Kia ngākau nui, kia hākoakoa, kia pai te wairua i roto i ēnei mahi, i ēnei āhuatanga katoa.

With your assistance and mine we will survive. The labour and results are one and the same, and valid. Be valiant and resolute, be buoyant, let your spirit be tranquil in these efforts, in all of these circumstances.
