Bookings for the climate camp are now closed

You can still register to attend the Action and visit the camp. Be aware entry and meals for a day are a suggested $20 koha.

Camp information

Accommodation

Most accommodation will be by way of camping; bring your own tents, sleeping mats and bedding if you can, but there will be some marae-style sleeping space as well (on first-in first-served basis).

The Lodge accommodation is limited to 30 beds max and these will be prioritised according to need. Note they are bunk-beds, 3-6 to a room – and again, you will need your own bedding.

There is also some billeted accommodation available through Wellington and Wairarapa branch members, which will also be allocated according to need, with core Action status (ie red, orange) and key support roles predominant.

If you require something more private and/or comfortable, you will unfortunately have to make your own arrangements to stay off-site – at least before Sun 6, when some on-site cabins may be available. Please ask for contact detail for these options when you reply.

The Camp officially runs from lunchtime Sat 5 to lunchtime Wed 9. However rebels will be on-site prior, all accommodation options are available on Friday 4th. Overnight stays on that night will be an additional $20 pp.

Note: If you are arriving early to help with organising etc, please make your additional needs clear.

Meals

Communal meals and snacks will be available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These will be vegetarian with vegan options.

If you prefer to bring in your own food, that’s fine but some koha toward the shared facilities would be appreciated. There are on-site barbecues available but the kitchen facilities will be prioritised for the communal meals, so you may need your own cooking facilities otherwise.

Please indicate in the registration form whether you will be participating in the shared meals, whether or not you are staying at the camp.

Note that additional nights (e.g Friday the 4th) will not be catered.

Camp Programme

The Booking Form contains some notes on the programme, which is still being finalised … but we encourage you to stay until the Tuesday night/Wed morning if you can, both to de-brief from the Action and discuss our next steps, and also to celebrate together at our Tuesday evening concert featuring Hawke’s Bay’s “Bruce Bisset and the Rural Voters” – a 5-piece blues/country/alt band.

Financial Assistance

If cost is an impediment to your attendance, please let us know & we will try to assist.

Unaccompanied Minors (Under-18)

If you are under-18 and not accompanied by an adult you will need to bring written consent signed by a parent/guardian to be at camp and take part in any non-violent demonstration.

Contact details

Please ensure you include a phone number for contact as well as your email address on the booking form.

You will receive a confirmation mail in reply, which may ask for clarification if needed.

You may also expect a call to discuss details such as special needs provision, priority for Lodge beds, other accommodation options at camp, and all Billeting arrangements.
