Minutes are a formal record of meetings.

Minutes:

  • help us run effective meetings,
  • ensure everyone can participate,
  • record key tasks and decisions,
  • ensure transparency,
  • provide essential communication for those who couldn’t participate, and
  • provide a structure for facilitators.

We have developed this template to save you creating one, and to help create a common type of records. It uses tables, with agreed actions on the right. That means you can simply cut and paste the entire task column. You can use it as is, or modify it to your needs. Please share any tips or suggestions by making proposed changes to v1.1 of our template.

Don’t want to use our template?
We recommend including at least the following:

  • Group name (branch or working group)
  • Date / Time
  • Chair, Minute taker
  • Present, Apologies, Guests
  • Meeting purpose
  • Agenda items, item speaker, length of item
  • Clearly distinguish between Information, Conversation, Decisions and Action points.
  • The next meeting date
  • Record the top three highlights from the meetings
