Put The Climate Criminals On Notice
July 27, 2019, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Burning coal is the biggest threat to the Earth’s climate system. And the climate criminals who mine and burn coal deserve to be exposed. How many of them are hiding in plain sight, right here in Wellington?
Join us at Frank Kitts Park at 11am Saturday 27 July, rain or shine. We’re going to take you on a tour of leading climate criminals who keep the New Zealand coal industry going. We’re going to be serving eviction notices on these climate criminals, because Wellingtonians don’t want them here.
This is a nonviolent, peaceful civil disobedience action based on Extinction Rebellion’s three demands:
1. Tell the truth
Government must tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency, working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change.
2. Act Now
Government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.
3. Beyond Politics
Government must create and be led by the decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.
