There is still time for your submission on the Treaty Principles Bill
We know that ACT and David Seymour have the active (and funded) support of Hobsons Pledge, The Taxpayers Union, and is backed by the Atlas Network. They expect our opposition – is this why Seymour is unfazed, and keeps fronting up with his little grin? They are in for the long term to open the country to exploitation by large corporations. It is up to us collectively to stop them
Remember the first draft of this Bill had that anyone owning property in the country could be considered Tāngata Whenua! While this was dropped the intent is there. It is in every utterance of the seemingly innocuous mantra “equal rights for everyone – not different rights through ethnicity”. They do not acknowledge there is inequality and Māori and others are overrepresented in the disadvantage stats.
Plus the Treaty is between two peoples. A simple referendum will not provide an informed result. This is where citizens assemblies could be used to great effect, bringing in expertise for an informed discussion, then expert facilitation of citizens groups to reach a consensus.
It is not too late to participate in the democratic process with a submission. But it must be in by January 7th. We must all write our own truth, write our own submissions. This can be daunting. But we are wonderful. There are so many opportunities to get support. These are some of the options for support:
The workshops, submission parties etc. are ongoing.

Writers Group
Enjoyable, informative and friendly, a group of Rebels have regular zoom meetings for those of us keen to voice our opinions on relevant issues by writing letters to politicians and newspapers. Pat Baskett kindly shares her incisive and well-researched Newsroom articles. We share what we are writing to encourage others and to get some input. Much of the writing is available for others to use in their own writing. The meetings are a great place to find out information and share our views and be enthused to get our ideas into the public arena.
Restarting January 23rd, 8 am by zoom (you can stay in bed and join in!).

We have had a great year with plenty of actions. These have been lots of fun plus they encourage people to think about the climate crisis the successive governments inaction. And keep the pressure up on the polluters and politicians. You are invited to join us in the new year, firstly at the picnic than you join us making the more fun pointed actions.
As we some into the festive season and summer holidays re are reminded of the XR Principle urging that we care for ourselves, that our spirits can be tranquil allowing us to be valiant and resolute:
XR Principle 12
Nāku, nāhau ka ora ai tātou. Ko te mahi me tōna hua e rite ana, e tika ana. Kia ngākau nui, kia hākoakoa, kia pai te wairua i roto i ēnei mahi, i ēnei āhuatanga katoa.
With your assistance and mine we will survive. The labour and results are one and the same, and valid. Be valiant and resolute, be buoyant, let your spirit be tranquil in these efforts, in all of these circumstances.
