So much about to happen at Governmental level. Are you ready?

The Climate Change Minister announced on Monday that three significant climate related things are about to happen: Thursday 12th is the first pre budget Parliamentary Debate on the climate crisis. Monday 16th the Climate Change Commission‘s long awaited Emissions Reduction Plan is to presented to Parliament. Then Thursday 19th the Budget will be presented.

We remain hopeful that the Government will hear the call of the people for a just transition to a post carbon society, joining the international move to change our economies and keep the planet livable. However indications are that they are Green Washing

Thirty Brave Rebels shut down a Southland coal mine for two days

Fonterra is a huge polluter and wants to burn coal for milk processing until 2037. In the South Island the coal comes from the Takitimu mine in Nightcaps, Southland, where Bathurst Resources is currently planning to expand and extend its mining operations.

New Zealand by itself can make only a small difference, but countries small economies are numerous and together have a significant effect on CO2 emissions. NZ could be bold and lead by example.

XR has promised Disruptive Civil Disobedience. If enough of us take the courage to do this, as has happened in the past, we will get change. Are you impatient for an Emissions Reductions Plan that is honest, consistent with a postindustrial temperature rise of 1.5 or less than 2 degrees rise? November 7 – 19 in Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington, this coincides with COP 27. The eyes of the media will be on COP. We will give the media something to look at and get the message: The people of the world want to follow the science to keep living well within our precious ecosystems. This means Zero Emissions 2025

Disruption can happen in different ways.  You can block a coal mine. Or a street.

Or, you can puncture the slick and carefully crafted marketing glitz with a well placed comment on social media.  Or, distract the energy and resources of their back-office to deal with frivolous queries.

That’s what the eRebellion is all about – rebels holding the polluters to account on their social media pages, asking pointed questions of politicians in public forums, trolling deniers, disrupting polluters, and generally keeping climate change in the public conscience.
