XR Waitākere Newsletter July 2020
Kia ora rebels,
We had a great Westie catch up last month and everyone is ready to change gear. Here’s what you need to know about your favourite Westie rebels for July:
-
Climate justice means #blacklivesmatter. That’s why we’ve promoting and joining the “Shaped by The System: A response to racism in Aotearoa” talk on Thursday 16 July from 7pm – 9pm at the Corban Estate Arts Centre. #westiesunite
-
Due to the school holidays there won’t be an arts and activities social in July. The next social will be August 15. (FB)
-
Our arts and activities socials will now be held at Henderson Valley Playcentre. After August they will return to the second Saturday of the month at 2pm.
-
If you are interested in campaign action, including supporting Westie school strikers or researching a campaign target out west, please respond to this email.
-
We are looking for feedback on a constitutional motion to give Tangata Whenua a stronger voice in Extinction Rebellion at a national level. Feedback or suggestions welcome before by Monday 20 July. We’ll vote on it on it at the next planning meeting.
-
Our next planning meeting for those actively involved in the branch is Tuesday 21 July at 7:30pm at https://meet.jit.si/XRWaitakere
-
If you are really keen, you can read the minutes from our last meeting.
-
We’ve shifted our planning communication from Mattermost (an app) back to Facebook as it is easier to access.
As a final note, my cat is stuck in a lego box. :)
Kind regards,
Simon
