Hi Ann, I saw you wrote something about Poetry day being about social issues, now I can’t find it. I am a people’s poet, I write about social issues but cannot get published or exhibited – not many people in Wairarapa want to know what is happening to the poorest most traumatised members of the ‘community’.
Not sure if we know each other already, I have been protesting for many years, chalking poetry in the street in Wellington about abusive mental health & govt. I havn’t been to Wellington past couple of years due to poverty, I started protesting in Wairarapa, where I discovered some police are violent lying bullies. I take the violence and threats and live in constant fear however that is not going to change getting involved with Extinction Rebellion, being around other rebels will be empowering as so many people I know are too terrified to act. I was hoping the movement was more focused on sustainable redistribution of power and resources. Maybe being more involved I can share what I know and give it the edge it needs to bring millions more on board. Have a wicked idea for starting a New Zealand legal #graffitiRebellion with chalk and posters to combat mainstream media propaganda marketing which I despise.
Contact me I’d like to hear what other poets have been doing and get some of my poetry out in the world. The world needs to hear it and see it.
