Draw the line in Wellington this October
This is the big one, friends, whānau and rebels! Wellington will kick off the worldwide XR Week of Action on 7 October with people coming from all over NZ. We’re taking serious, non-violent direct action against Government inaction on our climate and ecological breakdown.
Monday 7 October is the big day
If you want to be right in the action with a key role or supporting role, read more and register! Once you’ve done that, we’ll be in touch to tell you more and we’ll get together beforehand on 5 & 6 October to plan and train.
If turning up for the party on the day and having fun from the sideline is more your style, book a day off work, set your alarm and keep watching the website, Facebook, Twitter or this newsletter. And stand by for news of more events during the week of action.
You can help in other ways:
- Host a rebel: Host a friendly rebel for one night in Wellington on 6 October – email your contact info, address, how many people you can take, beds/floor, access etc and we’ll be in touch. Email [email protected], subject line Host a rebel.
- Donate: maybe you can’t be there in person, but you can help others do it with funds for transport, accommodation, food, postering, and the gear we’ll need on the day. Please help us fund the rebellion now.
- Lend a hand before the day: Postering, artwork, cooking, baking, plants, sourcing equipment, offering transport, making lists, fetching and carrying… Email [email protected], subject line Lend a hand.
- Be a legal observer on 7 October: This is a key sideline role which means observing closely to make sure police are acting lawfully. The Community Law Centre is organising legal observer training in Wellington in late September – date and time to be confirmed. Interested? Email Community Law Centre at [email protected] and cc Tim Jones at [email protected].
