Palmerston North’s arts, culture and heritage groups are likely to be asked to do their bit to help slow the pace of climate change.
The Regent on Broadway, Caccia Birch, The Globe and Te Manawa are being directed to consider how they can contribute to the city council’s goal to be an eco-city.
The request from the council’s arts, culture and heritage committee followed challenges from Extinction Rebellion Manawatū, a group that is part of a global movement seeking urgent action to avert a climate catastrophe.
Group spokesman Robert Gibb said the council’s goal to reduce emissions by 25 per cent in 10 years was laudable, but not enough.
