We Need Strong Leadership

Climate Change is such a huge problem that it will take more than what any one of us can do by ourselves. It needs strong leadership and a government that is willing to make the changes needed.

The upcoming election is your opportunity to choose a government that has strong climate policies.

Who to Vote For

We strongly encourage you to check out the policies of each of the main parties and make an informed choice. To save you some time, we’ve evaluated the top six policies that have the potential to make a significant positive impact on climate within the next three years.  This is summarised in the table at the top of this page.

And don’t worry if the Party you’re keen on is too small to win outright.  MMP is all about consensus, and the more votes they have, the more influence they’ll have over the bigger parties when it comes to building coalitions, etc.

Vote! Vote! Vote! Vote!

And then, make sure you get out and vote on – or before – election day (14 October 2023).

In New Zealand, MMP means that we each get two votes – one for our local candidate, and one for the Party that we would like to see in Government. The votes can be different, if you want, but it is the Party vote that is the most important, so make sure that party is strong on climate.

But Wait, There’s More!

Want to supercharge your vote? Then get out there and talk about the election and climate change. With your friends, whanau, work mates, on the bus, at the dentist…everywhere!

Or better yet, join us at information stalls to talk with the general public. We have posters, leaflets, bus cards. We will have electoral enrolment forms. We are all informed enough to have these conversations, especially as we talk and share our insights.

Join us on the information table – you can join someone more experienced. Alleviate climate anxiety. Make new friends. Have fun making a difference.
