Book Review
Goliath’s Curse, the history and future of societal collapse.
By Luke Kemp, this 450 page book is very readable text. The main thesis is that from the Holocene onwards, egalitarian communities gradually succumbed to status competition, leading to internal & external conflicts, & were deliberately abandoned. Climatic changes were sometimes involved. Chapter headings suggest the author has some challenges for Goliaths of today, some of which we advocate for already such as deliberative democracy (how to abandon a society from within). Let there be justice, lest the world perish. He may have some ideas you haven’t thought of and at a minimum you will gain an increased ability to understand one of the greatest issues facing society today!

Businesses that are making a difference!
The Fair & Good directory
The Fair & Good directory helps consumers find ethical brands and products to help you shop with more consideration. One of the biggest ways you can make a difference is by thinking about what you buy. Not everyone has time to be part of a climate action but most people could take a little more time to think green and consider what businesses they want to support with their money. The Fair & Good directory is making that a lot more accessible and a lot more simple!

Extinction Rebellion’s Third Demand:
The democracy our forebears fought for is no longer serving us well. We need systemic change.
Me hanga, me whai anō Te Kāwanatanga i ngā whakatau a Te Runanga a Iwi, a te kotahitanga o ngā iwi mō te āhuarangi me ngā mōtika o ngā toiora katoa. Kia mau te hira me te oranga ki te tini me te mano puta noa i te ao. (He mea hanga Te Runanga i ngā tāngata korara o tētahi hāpori.)
The Government must assist in the construction and adhere to the decisions reached by citizen assemblies, and the united tribes about the climate and the rights of all life forms. That health, wellbeing and prosperity be secured for the myriad forms of life in the universe. (The citizens’ assembly is established by the residents of a community through sortition.)
