Earth Day April 22nd

The grief parade.

Presentation to Council: C40 or ICLEI?

Midyear the Policy & Planning Committee will make a decision as to whether Auckland City, which has declared a climate emergency, should remain a member of the C40 Cities https://www.c40.org/ C40 is a global network of mayors of the world’s leading cities that are united in action to confront the climate crisis.

There is also an option for rejoining the ICLEI https://iclei.org/our_approach/ Local Governments for Sustainability

Mayor Brown only sees the cost and not the benefit. He does not see the crippling cost of mitigation, of buying our houses in flood zones nor the risk of food insecurity.

We are making a suggestion to the wider Council.

Join us: May 15th meet 9.40 by the Robbie Statue Aotea Sq, Queen St end.

Denniston Plateau Easter Action

Keep the Coal in the Hole. Both Minister Jones, and Bathurst Resources do not understand that it is urgent to stop mining coal. It is requiring people power to stop mining. Climate Liberation Aotearoa and 350 joined forces. Over 70 people camped on the Denniston Plateau over Easter. And some climbed in the coal buckets of the Stockton Mine. Principle Ten:

Loving kindness to all life and life systems is paramount, it is just that we devote time to mourn the loss of our siblings, of nations, of all life. From utter grief proper action will emerge to truly remedy our condition.
