By what year should NZ achieve net-zero carbon emissions?
The date by which we achieve technical net-zero carbon and nitogen is less important than the rapidity with which we reduce emissions in the coming 10-20 years. While we accept a technical target of 2050 we believe we must rapidly reduce emissions to keep warming below 1.5C. Aotearoa should lead the world in reducing emissions from all greenhouse gases and be on track to end fossil-fuel use and production before 2030 through legally binding mechanisms.
